In retrospect, when I look back and ponder how a whole generation of people is gradually but surely going to be extinct during next 10/15 years, it pains me. More than pain, it is bewilderment and stunning to observe the apathy about this generation by a large section of Gennext. Elaborately, it is on the card that during next decade or so, a whole generation of us will leave this world who have been completely different ….by and large dedicated to their assigned tasks set by the All Mighty when we were sent here years back. Each of them were sent with different Agenda in life and different tasks to execute and accomplish.
They go to sleep every night quite early and wake up also early next morning. They go for morning walk, irrespective of each one’s pressure at job front. They go to their whatever garden they have created as per their means and space and nurture the plants and water them and clean the periphery of their courtyards.
They pluck flowers for their own Pujas and daily rituals. They periodically and ritually go to the Temple, Church and Masjids as per their beliefs and convenience. While going on road to the place of worship and market place, they stop whenever they come across any known face and exchange pleasantries and share their joys, sorrows, and problems.
They still read news papers daily. Most of them are not tech-savvy. Yet they venture into technological aspiration with their limited hired and acquired knowledge . They ritually go to the Banks and Post Offices to check their savings details. They still await their monthly deposits for their humble sustenance.
Some of them indulge into literary, cultural, ritual and social activities with spontaneity yet limitedly. Some of their activities get appreciation though mostly they remain ignored. They bask in the glories of yesteryears’ Stars – Sports, Music, Tinsel Town or Politics. Seldom they are involved in any direct controversies and largely remain unresponsive to any mega misdeeds in the society only because they are afraid of public annihilation by modern day rulers and their so called sycophants.
They believe in God, maintain social decency. They prefer home made food rather than bought out rich stuff. They prefer home grown vegetables as far as possible instead of procuring stuff full with pesticides. They have always advised their children not to consume bad foods, not to spend hilariously, not to waste unnecessary energy on unimportant matters and concentrate on quality time and energy which would make their lives more beautiful and meaningful. Luckily, for this older generation, their juniors mostly have also been sincere, loving and honest in their approach which leave this generation with a shy of relief.
Are you aware of the fact that these people are leaving slowly, unnoticed and unheralded ? Do you have any one like them in your family ? If yes, please take care of them. They are priceless. Once they are gone, you wont get them back even if you look at the moonlit sky. Else, a very important chapter of knowledge and wisdom will also become extinct along with their passing away.
That wisdom is of building and keeping a reasonably satisfying life, an easy life style, – a life which inspired many, a life which has been without any spurious element, a life which followed his / her religion and a life which was streaming along the lines of spirituality and theology. A life which has been caring for all. They needed respect, acknowledgement, love and most importantly, time – quality time. Try to follow them because this generation knows the art of being happy without being rich.
At last, I firmly believe, this has been the generation and perhaps the last in the history of mankind, that they had blossomed from childhood to manhood by listening to and under the guidance of their seniors. This is also the last generation who are happily spending their older age, listening to their children. It will remain a fact that this culture will never come back and will go into oblivion for ever from this world. Perhaps, may be, the Gennext will fail to realize what they had lost. It could be too late.
